The Lee University Center for Responsible Citizenship awarded two undergraduate students with its second annual Research Scholarship for their exemplary work on the 2023-2024 theme, “Faith in the Public Square.”
First Place prize was awarded to Laila Pourfarzib and Second Place prize went to Madeline Niederstadt.
Ms. Pourfarzib, a rising senior at Lee, majors in political science with minors in pre-law and biological sciences. Ms. Niederstadt graduated from Lee this May with a Bachelor of Science in public administration.
"We are delighted to increase the first-place award from $500 to $750 and introduce a new second-place prize of $250,” said Audrey Haley, the CRC’s program coordinator. “More importantly, we are incredibly proud of Maddie and Laila’s contributions to our community and eagerly anticipate their future achievements.”
The Research Scholarship is just one of the many benefits the CRC offers. The Center provides a variety of opportunities to become educated and engaged citizens. Through reading groups, lectures, workshops, and symposia, the CRC fosters informed deliberation and discussions about the essential elements of a healthy and vibrant society.
