The Niña and Pinta will open in Chattanooga, on Friday, Oct. 18. The ships will be docked at Ross Landing Park, 201 Power Alley. The ships will be open every day through Sunday, Nov. 3.
The Niña was built completely by hand and without the use of power tools. Archaeology magazine called the ship "the most historically correct Columbus replica ever built."
Historians consider the “Caravel” the space shuttle of the 15th century and was used as early as the 13th century and into the 16th century.
Today, both ships tour together as a floating museum for the purpose of educating the public and school children on the Caravel, a Portuguese ship used by Columbus and many early explorers during the “Age of Exploration”.
The general public is invited to step back in time and explore the Niña and Pinta for self guided tours from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. No reservations are necessary. Tickets are purchased at the Ship’s location and prices are $10.00 for Adults, $9.00 for Seniors (60+), and $8.00 for Children/Military (5 - 18).
Children 4 and under are free. Price includes both ships.
Teachers or organizations wishing to schedule a 30-minute guided tour with a crew member during the weekdays should go to ninapinta.org/tour/html. Group tours require a minimum of 15 people. Please call 251-293-4193 or email ninapintatour@gmail.com for any inquires.
