VONORE, Tenn. -- With the lead of one of its Stallions, Walker Valley stampeded the field at the Golden Eagle Invitational Wednesday at The Links of KaHite.
Improving his score by a dozen shots from Monday's Burke Memorial season opener, Alex Robinson galloped through the Tellico Village layout to a 6-under-par 66.
Posting a career-best tally, blistered the links layout with 3-under 33s on both sides, with an and eagle, plus a half dozen birdies.
With all four scorers breaking 80, the Mustangs galloped away from the competition by 21 strokes with a 10-over 298 total.
Walker Valley senior Cooper Lemons posted the third-best score with a 4-over 76, while sophomore teammate Harrison Yost and Cleveland 10th-grader Dalton Franklin were right behind with 77s.
Playing in his first 18-hole high school tournament, sophomore Colton Widener carded a 79 in his varsity debute to round out the winning tally.
Following Brown and Franklin's lead, Raider seniors Nolan Lowden and Carter Pierce helped out with 83 and 85 respectively giving Cleveland the team runner-up trophy with a 319.
Rhea County (338) took third Wednesday, with McMinn County (354) and Maryville (363) rounding out the Top 5.
Loudon (375), McMinn Central (377) and Heritage (405) also particiapted in the event.
