Eloise Anne “Midge” Strelow, 86, of Signal Mountain, went to be with her Lord and Savior on August 20, 2024.

She was born in Milwaukee, Wi., went to Nursing School at Northwestern University and settled down in Glenview, Il. to raise her family. In 1986 she was sought out as a nurse for Queens Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii. In 2012, she moved to Signal Mountain, where she enjoyed an active life of volunteering at Bachman Community Center, Signal Mountain UMC and Alexian Village.

Midge was a lifetime member of South Milwaukee Yacht Club, where boating was her passion. She enjoyed cruising, including an Around-the-World trip. She enjoyed lots of day trips as well.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Philip Strelow; her parents, Donald Lavon and Jessie Eloise Chase; stepfather, Henry J. "Hank" Schlesinger; her brother, Donald Thomas Chase; and sister, Carole Jean Porter.

She is survived by her loving children: Linda (Dave) Kleckner, Cynthia (Nicholas) Batson, Charles A IV (Katherine) Wicker, Sandra (Rob Glassmyer) Wicker, Patricia (Scott) Payne; and her sister, Patricia Weisrock; along with many beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, step-children, nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will be holding visitation on Wednesday, Aug. 28, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a Celebration of Life in the Coulter Chapel of Lane Funeral Home, Ashland Terrace to follow immediately.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Signal Mountain United Methodist Church, or Bachman Community Center on Signal Mountain.

For out-of-state relatives and friends, there will be a Celebration of Life on Saturday, Sept. 21, at 10 a.m. at Glenview United Methodist Church, 727 Harlem Ave, Glenview, Il.
