CHA ART SPACE, a modular exhibit space currently located in the ticketing area of the Chattanooga Airport, has unveiled its latest juried show titled "SUMMER." Curated by local artist Carrie Pendergrass, this installation features the work of 18 local and regional artists.
The exhibition marks the 11th installment since the project’s debut in July 2021 and is the first to reflect a newly formed collaboration with the Association for Visual Arts. This partnership allows CHA ART SPACE to operate as a satellite project of AVA’s programming.
Artists were invited to engage all their senses and translate their interpretations of summer into visual art. The show reflects the diverse feelings and moments of the season, showcasing a variety of artistic approaches in media, style and price, said officials.
All pieces are available for purchase, with proceeds benefiting both the artists and the ongoing operation of CHA ART SPACE. The funds will help continue offering free public art exhibits in the future. By purchasing original artwork, viewers contribute to the cultural ecosystem of the community and support the local economy.
The artists included in “SUMMER” are Andy Brooks, Rosie Fitzgerrel, D.W. Gram, Randy Griffith, Carol Hobbs, Lupina Haney, Lisa Houser, Faye Ives, Amanda Rae Long, Kathleen Pacenti, Connie Roberts, Susan Schweigard, Anh Bao Tran-Le, Melanie Mitchell Tucker, Priscilla Vaca, April Van Brunt, Lauren Walker and Kristopher K. Young.
The exhibit is available to view now through November. For more information, please visit www.sewntothesea.com/cha-art-space and follow @cha_art_space and @sewntothesea on Instagram. For art purchase inquiries, email: cha.curator@gmail.com
