Free Speech And Censorship

  • Wednesday, September 4, 2024

Given the recent ban of the X platform in Brazil and the arrest of Pavel Durov in France, the government entities which preside outside of the United States have no guarantees of any type of speech, including if you agree or disagree with the comments.

However, within the Unites States we live under a constitutional republic form of government that allows citizens the ability to speak freely without harm or retaliation.

My concern is with the recent letter to the US Congress from Mark Zuckerberg on censorship on the Meta platform Facebook. When government infringes on our right to speak, we need to be alarmed and guarded, given this is what has happened across the globe with authoritarian regimes and dictatorships.
