Cleveland High senior Lauren Hurst added a 12th postseason state honor to her prep career resume, earning her third straight  Gatorade Tennessee Volleyball Player of the Year.

Having signed to play both sports at the University of Tennessee, Hurst is four-time Maxpreps All-American versatile volleyball star that rarely leaves the court due to not only her dominating spikes, but her defensive and service abilities.

On the volleyball court, Hurst set the TSSAA’s all-time kills record with 2,607 in her prep career, all while helping the Lady Raiders to a 161-38 overall record.

She was part of both the first two state championship teams in program history, plus a third TSSAA Elite Eight as a freshman and a fourth straight Sectionals berth this past fall.

Hurst capped her prep career with 678 kills and 320 digs in her senior season, while adding 81 aces, 72 assists and 34 blocks.
She posted career highs in kill percentage (.491), hitting percentage (.352), kills per set (5.7) and single-game kills (32) this past fall.

In addition to athletic performance, Gatorade’s honor also takes into account academic success and contributions in the community, and Hurst carries a 3.8 GPA in the classroom and has been active as a youth coach in basketball and volleyball.

Considered a top-50 recruit nationally in both basketball and volleyball for the class of 2025, Hurst is hoping to return to the hardwood this week after missing the first half of the hoop season resting a groin injury.

She led Cleveland to a TSSAA Final Four run last spring, averaging 15 points and nine rebounds per game, along with nearly 2.5 assists and steals and close to two blocks on outing.

Along with her trio of Gatorade Player of the Year honors, Hurst has collected five TSWA  All-State regular season honor (four volleyball, one basketball), to go with four All-State Tournament awards (three volleyball and one basketball).
