Sevierville, Tenn. – The Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association (TSSAA) board of control has voted to extend its contract with the Sevierville Golf Club for the Golf State Championship through 2026. This year’s championship, slated for October 5-10, will mark the fifth year the Sevierville Golf Club and Sevierville Chamber of Commerce have hosted the tournament.
“The TSSAA is excited to continue holding the state golf tournament in Sevierville for the next two years,” says TSSAA assistant executive director Matthew Gillespie.
“The first four years at the Sevierville Golf Club have been outstanding. First and foremost, we strive to provide a great experience for the student athletes, and we couldn't do that without the numerous volunteers, the Sevierville Chamber of Commerce, and everyone at the Sevierville Golf Club. The course is one of the finest in the state, and holding our tournament here provides such a great experience for the student athletes.”
The TSSAA Golf State Championships are the culmination of the high school golf season for both boys’ and girls’ golf teams and individual golfers of member schools across the state of Tennessee. Member schools are divided into four classifications of play (Division I Class A, Division I Class AA, Division II Class A, and Division II Class AA), and compete for two consecutive days in a 36-hole stroke play event with 18 holes each day. These championships bring together student athletes, coaches, fans, parents, and other spectators from all over Tennessee. The Sevierville Golf Club and Sevierville Chamber of Commerce have hosted the championships since 2021.
“We’ve had tremendous success hosting the TSSAA State Championships at the Sevierville Golf Club,” says the Sevierville Chamber of Commerce director of sales, Tony Funderburg. “We appreciate the board of control voting to extend our relationship through 2026. The extension is a result of the hard work of our staff, golf club staff, and volunteers to provide an outstanding championship experience. We welcome the opportunity to continue providing hundreds of junior golfers, their coaches, and families the opportunity to enjoy all that Sevierville and our businesses have to offer.”
Sevierville Golf Club director of golf Bob Parker echoes that sentiment, stating, "The staff at the Sevierville Golf Club is grateful that the TSSAA has continued to place confidence in our ability to provide a high-level golf experience for these young golfers."
The TSSAA was founded in 1925 as a voluntary, non-profit, self-supported organization to administer the junior and senior high school athletic program in the state of Tennessee. TSSAA currently serves over 430-member high schools and 400 TMSAA member middle schools.
The Sevierville Chamber of Commerce will coordinate volunteer positions for the championships. To receive updates regarding volunteer opportunities for the TSSAA Golf Championship later this year, sign up for the Chamber’s volunteer newsletter at
