About the speaker:
Dr. Carson is celebrated for his groundbreaking work in pediatric neurosurgery, including the first successful separation of conjoined twins. Born in Detroit, Dr. Carson was raised by a single mother with a third-grade education who instilled in him a love for reading and education despite significant challenges. He went on to graduate from Yale University and earned his M.D. from the University of Michigan Medical School. His journey from humble beginnings to becoming one of the world’s leading neurosurgeons and a Presidential Medal of Freedom recipient is a testament to perseverance and faith.

Dr. Carson is also the founder of the Carson Scholars Fund, which has awarded over 11,000 scholarships and established hundreds of reading rooms nationwide to promote literacy and academic achievement.
