Symphony Orchestra, Fall 2024
The Lee University Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Dr. Régulo Stabilito, will present its spring concert on Monday, Feb. 24, at 7:30 p.m. in Pangle Hall.
“I am excited to share with the audience the artistry of our students,” said Dr. Stabilito. “The Lee Symphony is bringing musical stories of love and performing a great repertoire with such great passion and commitment. This is a concert that is not to be missed, so we invite the community to come share our love for music with us.”
The concert will feature winners from Lee’s School of Music’s aria and concerto competition, including Taylor Guyton, alto; Daphne Jiang, violin; Lily Allen, alto; and Evan Kramer, trombone, Garret Miller, Piano and Bronwyn Paladin, soprano. The repertoire includes an aria from Menotti’s “The Saint of Bleecker Street,” the first movement from Dvorák’s Violin Concerto, Puccini’s aria “Vissi d’ arte from Tosca,” Grøndahl’s third movement from the Trombone Concerto, first movement from Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 1, and the aria “Ach, ich fühls” from Mozart’s The Magic Flute.
The performance will also include pieces such as Tchaikovsky’s “Romeo and Juliet” and Carreño’s “Margariten~a (Glosa Sinfónica).”
Lee’s Symphony Orchestra is an ensemble of select instrumentalists who perform operatic, choral, and other major symphonic works.
Dr. Stabilito, an artist in residence at Lee and music director and conductor of Oak Ridge Symphony in Tennessee, has accompanied renowned international soloists and made frequent appearances as a conductor for opera, orchestral, and ballet productions. He is also a permanent guest conductor in the Festival Latinoamericano de Música (Latin American Music Festival) in Caracas. He and his wife founded the Latin-American Music Initiative, an organization that seeks to promote Latin American composers and their works.
