Roy William “Bud” Ragan
Roy William “Bud” Ragan died peacefully from cancer on February 28, 2025.
He was born on March 4, 1943, in Knoxville, Tn., to Charles and Jeannette Ragan and moved to Chattanooga as a child. He attended City High School and graduated from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga with a degree in business administration. Bud was a lieutenant in the U.S. Army and was stationed at Homestead Air Reserve Base near Miami, Florida during the Vietnam War.
Bud moved out to Los Angeles after he got out of the military and briefly worked in real estate until finding his calling in the music industry. He became a booking agent for national acts, including Barbara Mandrell and Rick Nelson, among others.
After moving back to Chattanooga in 1984, he got back into real estate for about 10 years until getting his master’s and becoming a licensed therapist for 20 years before retiring.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Charles.
He is survived by his stepchildren from his previous marriage, Sherri Stoops, and Christina Varnum, his loving wife, Annie Fricker and her children Chad Danner (Erin Lancaster), Charles Moss (Vanessa Moss), Meredith Moss, Andrew Shapiro, and Susan Shapiro, and their grandchildren Noah and Emmett Moss and Robert Bloom.

A graveside service will be held a Chattanooga National Cemetery on March 27, at 1 p.m.
