The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1697 presents the First Annual Armed Forces Day Off-Road Vehicle & Truck Show sponsored by American 4WD & Outfitters (www.A4WDO.com) on May 17 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at Ooltewah High School, 6123 Mountain View Road in Ooltewah. Check-in and setup will begin at 8 a.m.
Officials said, "Seeing a lack of events to recognize our U.S. Armed Forces on Armed Forces Day in Hamilton County, this event was created to bring awareness to our military service members and showcase a category of vehicles synonymous with our military culture.
In addition to recognizing our Armed Forces, we are going to recognize our first responder community as well, as this is a career path of service that many of our veterans engage in before or after their military career."
Proceeds of this event will support local veteran and youth programs conducted by VFW Post 1697. Programs include feeding veterans and their families in need, assisting disabled veterans with home repairs to support their disabilities, supporting widows in need, and the Patriot's Pen/Voice of Democracy Middle/High School youth scholarships.
