Chattanooga’s own British Style Brass Band and the Chattanooga Clarinet Choir will offer a combined concert on Sunday, April 6, at 3 p.m. It will be held at the Chattanooga State HUM Building Auditorium on the College Campus on Amnicola Highway.

The Jericho Brass Band, under the direction of David Butler, will perform numbers by composers such as Jean Sibelius, Edward Gregson and Eric Ball. Together, Jericho Brass Band and the Clarinet Choir will perform numbers composed by Henry Filmore and John Phillip Sousa.

Of particular interest will be their combined performance of the music composed for the two groups, a treat that combines the sweet clarinet sounds from superb woodwind players coupled with the brilliant sound from the various brass musicians, said officials.

The Clarinet Choir, led by Nick Hartline, has been in Chattanooga since 1998. It was formed by the former principal clarinetist of the Chattanooga Symphony Orchestra, Jay Craven. There are 21 members of the group today, representing all sizes of clarinets, from the Eb and Bb Clarinets to the largest clarinet, called the Contra-alto Bass Clarinet.

There will be free admission and free parking, although donations are always greatly appreciated and help support both groups growth and development.
