Lee Lacrosse Falls To Fifth Ranked Maryville University

– Taking on their seventh ranked opponent on the season, the Lee University lacrosse team fell to #5 Maryville University 23-10 on Saturday morning. The Lady Flames had two freshmen stand out in the loss. Emilia Tippett had five goals and Savannah Weisman set a single game record for most saves in a game with 17.
 
Maryville came quickly out of the gate scoring the first six goals in the first seven minutes. The Lady Flames settled in and scored twice from Tippett. One more goal from Marville made it seven goals.
Lee had Callie Curtis and Katelynn Sweeney score before the end of the quarter to make it 7-4.
 
The second quarter belonged to the Saints. They outscored Lee 9-2 in the period and led it 16-6 at the half. Tippett and Hannah Vecsey scored for Lee.
 
The third quarter was low scoring as only five goals were scored between the two teams. Sweeney and Tippet each scored for the Lady Flames. In the fourth, Maryville added four more goals while Sweeney and Tippett each scored again.
 
Maryville out shot Lee 48-15 in the contest including 40 shots on goal for the Saints. Weisman made her 17 saves off of the 48 shots.
 
The Saints also dominated the draw control winning 26 to just ten for Lee. The Saints also forced the Lady Flames into 22 turnovers.
 
Chloe Elliott had sox goals and two assists for Marville while Marissa Zeno added five goals and an assist while Hannah Bae had four goals and two assists. For the Lady Flames, Tippett had five goals. Sweeney had three goals and Noelle Harrington added four assists.
 
The Lady Flames will host the University of Montevallo on Sunday, April 6 for their annual Lacrosse Out Cancer game.
