Don Myers
Don Myers, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 13, 2025, just one day before his 90th birthday.
Born on June 14, 1935, Don spent his career as an Instrument Technician at DuPont, where he was known for his precision, dedication, and quiet integrity.
Don was married to his devoted wife, Barbara, for 63 years. Together, they raised their daughter, Laura, and shared a life marked by love, service, and deep commitment to others.
A faithful member of Hixson United Methodist Church, Don also served his community in remarkable ways. He was instrumental in the creation of Middle Valley Ballfield and played a leading role in organizing and managing the Tim Neighbor’s Baseball Tournament, held at the field he helped bring to life. Proceeds from the tournament were donated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, a cause Don supported passionately in the fight against childhood cancer.
Don had a lifelong love of sports and was especially passionate about basketball, which he played well into his later years. Most recently, he enjoyed competing in the Senior Olympics, a testament to his enduring energy and love of the game.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Guy Keith and Evelyn Keith. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Robert Wilson; grandsons, Robert Wilson (Emily McLeod) and Nick Wilson (Ali Frost); sister, Barbara Shannon (Paul Gene); and niece, Susan Hatfield (Keith Hatfield).
He will be deeply missed by all who knew him—for his steady presence, generous spirit, and unwavering kindness.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 16, at 12 p.m. at Legacy Funeral Home in Soddy Daisy, Tn., with visitation beginning at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Don’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
