Covenant College Unveils Renovated Probasco Welcome Center On Lookout Mountain

  • Monday, March 31, 2025

Covenant College announces the reopening of the newly renovated Probasco Welcome Center, previously known as the Probasco Visitor Center, designed to provide prospective students, families and guests with an enhanced and personalized campus visit experience.

Located at the north entrance to campus near the iconic Carter Hall, the Probasco Welcome Center was built in 1998 and named for Scotty Porbasco who was instrumental in the initial building. The updated space now features modern furnishings, improved offices and gathering spaces for admissions counseling and campus tours, and larger windows displaying views of Chattanooga and North Georgia.

The renovation reflects Covenant College’s commitment to hospitality and excellence, ensuring that guests receive a warm introduction to the college’s Christ-centered community, said officials.

“We are grateful to be providing a new space for our admissions team,” said Dave Gambrell, dean of enrollment management. “It's hard to calculate how deeply encouraging it is for them to have a space that matches the quality of the work that they've been doing this whole time.”

The college held a ribbon-cutting ceremony while the board of trustees were on campus. “As followers of Jesus Christ, we are the beneficiaries of the grandest act of hospitality of all time,” said President Brad Voyles during the ceremony. “Now, we get the opportunity to show a fraction of that hospitality. It starts here as we welcome guests to this campus, and we've got an incredible team of admissions folks who are doing that.”

The renovations were completed due in part to the generosity of longtime donors and friends of the college who are also parents of Covenant alumni and hopeful grandparents of future Scots.
