Boyd-Buchanan School in Chattanooga has named Wes Moore the Head Basketball Coach of the Lady Bucs.
"We are thrilled to have Wes Moore lead our Lady Buccaneers basketball program. With Tracey Walker stepping into the role of Senior Women’s Athletic Administrator, this marks a natural and seamless transition," said Matt Pobieglo, Director of Athletics. "His experience, leadership, and knowledge of Chattanooga and Division II basketball make him an ideal fit. With Coach Moore at the helm, we are confident that the future of the program is bright, and we eagerly anticipate the ongoing growth and success of our student-athletes on and off the court."
Moore has been an integral part of the greater Chattanooga basketball community for over twenty years, serving as an assistant coach this past season for the Lady Bucs.
Prior to joining Boyd-Buchanan, he was a successful coach at Chattanooga Christian School (CCS) from 2017 to 2024, where he served in dual roles as the head boys’ basketball coach and assistant girls’ basketball coach. The coaching veteran is no stranger to Division II, having held head coaching stints at Girls Preparatory School (GPS) from 2015 to 2017 and Notre Dame High School from 2011 to 2015, where his teams won several district championships and postseason honors.
Moore’s reputation for mentorship, skill development, teamwork, and relationship-building will be an integral piece of the Boyd-Buchanan women’s basketball program.
“It’s an honor to coach at Boyd-Buchanan, a school with a rich basketball tradition that has consistently produced next-level-ready student-athletes,” said Moore. “This is an exciting opportunity, and I’ve already received strong support from the administration, teachers, and staff, as well as from the broader school community. We have an impressive group of high school girls returning, along with many up-and-coming basketball talents, which is thrilling for the program’s future."
A standout player himself, Moore graduated from the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga, where he was a four-year starter for the Mocs and helped lead the team to a Sweet 16 NCAA tournament appearance. He was inducted into the UTC Hall of Fame in 2011 and still holds multiple records. After his playing career, Moore worked as a graduate assistant coach at UTC for two years.
Moore is married to Leeann Moore, and they have two daughters, Charlee (’33) and Josie (’30).
