John “Denney” Miller
John “Denney” Miller, 81, passed away on April 15, 2025.
He was born in Chattanooga on January 29, 1944, to the late Vernon H. Miller and Christine Miller. Denney was a Vietnam Veteran, and a lifetime member of the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 203 where he served as Captain of the Honor Guard.
Denney was an avid bowler where at separate times in his life, he bowled two almost perfect games with a score of 299. He was also an avid boater and took up golfing once he decided to retire. He never met a stranger and made lasting friendships in all these aspects of his life.
He was preceded in death by his aforementioned parents, brother, Robert, V. Miller; son-in-law; Tom Johnson, and one of his dearest friends, Johnny Austin.
He is survived by his daughters, Angie Johnson, Lorri Bragg; sister, Dottie (Stu) Miller; grandchildren, Kali (Grant) Watson, Kara Johnson; great- granddaughter, Remington Johnson; best friend, Jeff (Cindy) Johnson; cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 23, from 5-8 p.m. and Thursday, April 24, from 12-1 p.m. in the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
A graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 24, at the Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors and Chaplain George Woodruff officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Vietnam Veterans of America Local Chapter 203, P.O. Box 23405, Chattanooga, Tn. 37422.
