Hamilton County Criminal Court Clerk Vince Dean announced that Deputy Clerk Shannon Miles completed the necessary requirements for the Certified County Finance Officers Program, also known as the CCFO. Ms. Miles is the only deputy clerk in the Criminal Court Clerk’s office who has this designation. Achieving this designates the recipient as the best of the best.
Mr. Dean said, "We are very proud of Ms. Miles. She has dedicated the last year to monthly classes and diligent study, along with routine testing."
The Comptroller of the Treasury and CTAS (County Technical Assistance Service) developed the Certified County Finance Officer (CCFO) program. It provides Tennessee’s county financial officers an opportunity to learn about accounting and financial reporting principles, understand how county governments are structured in Tennessee, and enhances their skills in order to carry out their responsibilities for the fiscal affairs of their county or department. CTAS administers the educational program and testing required to achieve the CCFO designation. The Comptroller’s Office has been designated as the certification authority.
Ms. Miles is a supervisor in the Hamilton County Criminal Court Clerk’s office. Her 25 years in the banking industry played a significant part in her selection for this program. She is consistently seeking opportunities to advance her professional career.
“We are so proud of Shannon,” said Clerk Dean. “She is always eager to go above and beyond what is asked of her." He said that this course is one of the most difficult offered by CTAS, adding that not every one who starts it, finishes it.
Ms. Miles and her husband Greg have one son, Hayden. They are members of Rehoboth Baptist Church in Soddy Daisy and live in Graysville.
