Fred Ernest Combs, Jr., affectionately known as Freddie, passed away at the age of 52, surrounded by the love of his family.

A devoted husband to Annette Combs, a loving father, grandfather, and son, Freddie’s life was a testament to faith, hard work, generosity, and the joy found in simple pleasures.

Freddie’s love for life was matched only by his deep faith in Jesus, which guided him through every challenge and triumph. An avid hunter and fisherman, he cherished the outdoors and found peace and purpose in nature’s embrace.

Freddie grew up building houses alongside his father, Ernest Combs, learning the value of hard work from an early age. He became a skilled electrician and dedicated a significant part of his life to teaching future electricians, passing on his knowledge and passion for the trade to the next generation. Known for his open door and generous heart, Freddie welcomed anyone in need—offering help, a listening ear, or even a home. His tireless work ethic and sacrifices for his family were evident in everything he did, always putting their needs first.

He was a loving husband and a present father to his children—Emma Combs and her fiancé, Josh Steiner; Jade Livingston and her husband, Gabe; Abigail Long and her husband, Noah; Austin Combs and his wife, Amanda; and Taylor Wilson and his wife, Raven. His playful spirit shone brightest in his role as “Paps,” a grandfather who delighted in every moment with Daniel, Gracie, Gavin, and Adeline.

Freddie is also survived by his mother, Emma Combs, and his sister, Connie Westberry, along with her husband Bobby. He is now joyfully joining his dad, Ernest Combs, in heaven.

Memorial visitation will be held at Hamilton Funeral Home on Friday, June 27, from 1:30-3:30 p.m., with the funeral service to follow at 3:30 p.m. The family welcomes all who wish to celebrate Freddie’s life.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Hunters for the Hungry, a cause close to Freddie’s heart, supporting those in need through the gift of game meat.

His legacy is one of faith, family, generosity, hard work, and fun—a life well-lived and full of love. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of all who knew him.

Arrangements are entrusted to Hamilton Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 4506 Hixson Pike, Hixson, Tn. 37343, 423 531-3975.
