Man Of Great Compassion

  • Wednesday, April 30, 2025
Steven Bernard Farmer, born December 2, 1981, in Chattanooga, TN, passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at a local Chattanooga hospital.

He is survived by both his mother and father, an older sister, one older brother, one younger sister, and a host of nieces, nephews, and a cherished goddaughter.

A graduate of Lookout Valley High School, Steven furthered his education by earning two associate's degrees, one of which he received with Magna Cum Laude honors and a place on the Dean's List. His academic achievements only reflected part of his dedication and intellectual capabilities.

Steven was a multi-talented artist with a passion for both music and photography. He was deeply involved in Chattanooga's Hip Hop scene as a member of Ablockaway music group, one of the city's pioneering Hip Hop collectives. His contributions to the group were extensive, encompassing writing, singing, rapping, and especially mastering music production.

Steven was a man of great compassion and recognized the importance of positive male role models in the lives of young men. He dedicated many years to coaching football, leaving a lasting impact on countless young athletes and their families. His passion for coaching was unwavering, and he continued to guide and mentor his players for as long as he was physically able, even after beginning dialysis.

In 2023, Steven received the gift of a kidney transplant, for which he was immensely grateful. This experience inspired him to become an organ donor himself, embodying his belief in paying it forward and helping others.

Steven lived his life to the fullest, cherishing every moment and encouraging those around him to do the same. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Memorial services will be held at John P. Franklin on Dodds Avenue in Chattanooga, on Thursday, May 1, with a 4-5 p.m. visitation and 5-6 p.m. memorial service.
