The Chattanooga Lookouts dropped game two in their series at Birmingham, falling 1-0 for another tough luck loss. Starting pitcher and Reds top prospect Chase Burns combined with two relievers to allow only the one run on four hits. Burns struck out seven and now has a 1.89 earned run average.
DJ Gladney hit a home run to give the Barons the 1-0 win before 8,235 at Regions Field in Birmingham. Gladney hit his home run in the bottom of the fifth inning for the game's only run, and the Barons have now won three straight for the first time this season.
Starting pitcher Ryan Gowens (3-0, 4.70) got the win, going six innings, giving up only two hits, no earned runs, and one walk with three strikeouts. Grant Taylor, Tyler Davis, and Andrew Dalquist went three scoreless innings with Dalquist gets his first save of the season.
