In April, Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham, D-NM declared a state of emergency and authorized the National Guard to support the Albuquerque Police in response to an ongoing public safety challenge (Los Alamos Reporter 4/8/25). The ACLU blew smoke about “militarization of civil law and violations of rights” (Source NM 4/9/25), but then no lawsuits, injunctions, marches or riots.
According to MPDC, crime is down (BBC 8/11/25). Maybe it is from all time highs during COVID. To Democrats dismay, reporters see the ridiculous nature of those explanations.
Chris Matthews on MSNBC said “you can’t keep saying crime is down, but the murder rate is up” (8/13/25). To the average person that makes no sense. With little fanfare on July 18, a DC police commander was suspended, accused of changing statistics (NBC4 7/18/25).
Carjackings actually were up in DC 547 percent between 2018 and 2023. In 2024, the homicide rate was the fourth highest in the nation and the number of juveniles arrested has gone up every year since 2020 (WH.gov 8/11/25). Even MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough admitted there’s no sense of security there (8/12/25).
The capitol should be one of the safest places in the nation, yet we see Democrats fight Trump over his efforts to quell the violence (5News Chicago 8/11/25). They view criminals as “victims of an oppressive society.” They also fear if it works and crime goes down substantially, residents in other high crime cities run by Democrats, will ask why it isn’t happening for them. Some Democrats are actually rooting for it not to work, which would keep crime high in DC-not a good look for a party at all time lows in the polls.
Governor Wes Moore, D-MD said, “Our National Guards are not trained for this, we know their missions, and municipal policing is not one of them” (TampaFreePress 8/13/25). It was okay when a Democrat used the Guard, but now they howl about an “authoritarian crackdown” when Trump uses them in our nation’s Capitol. Trump made a campaign promise to get crime and criminals under control, and he wants to fulfill his promise. Democrats fear that he will succeed.

It was refreshing to read Mr. Ralph Miller's comments.
Who could possibly object to making our streets safer for our citizenry, especially in our nation's capital? The objections and hysteria from 'certain' media outlets, and 'certain' politicians are just asinine. And the claims "crime is down," is just not honest, is untrue gaslighting, insulting to every intelligent American, and should be to every intelligent human being on Earth.
Cut the crap people, crime is real and out of control.
I am thankful that we finally have a President who is courageous enough to address the real issues head-on without fear of losing votes.
You have started something amazing, President Trump. Please finish it.
And thank you Mr. Miller for stating the obvious.
