Gregory Levoia Sanders
Gregory Levoia Sanders, 72, passed away peacefully on August 13, 2025.
He was born on August 1, 1953, in Ooltewah, Tennessee, to the late Reuben Sanders and Willie Mae Sanders. At the age of eight, he was lovingly raised in New York by Hazel Lorene White.
Gregory attended Automotive High School in Brooklyn, N.Y., before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps, where he proudly served his country. Following his military service, he pursued a career in transportation and worked more than a decade as a professional truck driver. For two of those years, he drove nationwide with VSS Transport Courier, accepting his final assignment there before his health declined.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hazel Lorene White, two brothers, and three sisters.
Left to honor his memory are his devoted wife of 25 years, Angela K. Sanders, who also lovingly cared for him for 15 years; his brother, Robert (Wilma) Sanders; his sister, Angela Edwards; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will deeply miss him.
Gregory will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his service to his country, and the bonds of love and friendship he shared throughout his life.
Public viewing will begin at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 26, followed immediately by the funeral service at 11 a.m. in the chapel of John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., Chattanooga, 423 622-9995.
Interment will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors. Gate time is 12:30 p.m.
