Highway 58 Fire Department Firefighter Tris Lirette Killed In Motorcycle Accident

Tris Lirette, a firefighter with the Highway 58 Fire Department, was killed in a motorcycle accident on Wednesday around 5:56 p.m. on Birchwood Pike. Mr. Lirette had graduated from the fire academy on Tuesday night. On the arrival of other members to the scene, life-saving efforts began. These efforts were unsuccessful, and Firefighter Lirette was pronounced deceased at the scene by Hamilton County EMS. Firefighter Lirette leaves behind a wife and young daughter. The funeral and visitation will be held at Lane Funeral Home, 601 Ashland Terrace. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 10, from 3-5 p.m. and the funeral service will begin at 5 p.m. (click for more)

2 Of Those Shot On Arlington Avenue Die From Their Wounds

Three people were shot late Wednesday afternoon. Two of the men, 19 and 21, have died as a result of their injuries. State Provides $2 Million For Workforce Development At New Gateway School

Sheriff's Office Says Man On Vulcan Lane Was Shot While Assaulting Son, Neighbor

The Sheriff's Office said a man who was shot Thursday night on Vulcan Lane was assaulting his son and neighbor, and no charges would be filed against the shooter. Gregory Burnett was charged with domestic assault and assault. Around 7 p.m., deputies responded to reports of a person shot at the 6000 block of Vulcan Lane. The Lookouts (7-16) held the Montgomery Biscuits (12-12) scoreless until the 9th inning on Thursday night at Riverwalk Stadium and held on for a 3-1 win.
