Baylor School Names Eight New Trustees

Baylor School's Board of Trustees has announced the appointment of eight new members.

They are Lee Abelson of Signal Mountain, Tenn.; alumnus James R. Gifford of Hot Springs, Ark.; Janice Card Henderson of Chattanooga, Tenn.; alumnus Jon M. Kinsey of Chattanooga, Tenn.; Ellen P. Moore of Lookout Mountain, Tenn.; alumnus Jeffrey K. Morgan of Signal Mountain, Tenn.; Kim L. Strang of Lookout Mountain, Ga.; alumnus Philip B. Whitaker Jr. of Lookout Mountain, Ga., and Jeffrey K. Willis of Chatsworth, Ga.

The school also saluted the service of those finishing their terms,
including Philip Whitaker Sr. of Lookout Mountain, Tenn.; Zane Brown of
Lookout Mountain, Tenn.; Ryan Crimmins of Lookout Mountain, Tenn.; Neel Hipp of Chattanooga, Tenn.; Doug Stein of Lookout Mountain, Tenn., and Pat St. Charles of Signal Mountain, Tenn.

Whitaker is a member of the school's
graduating Class of 1951. Crimmins is a member of the Class of 1978. Hipp
is a member of the Class of '69. Stein is a member of the Class of '75.

After 31 years of service on Baylor's board, including four years as
chairman, Philip Whitaker Sr. was named an honorary trustee.

"We have been incredibly fortunate to have had the leadership and service
these individuals have offered as trustees," said Headmaster Jim Buckheit.

"Phil Whitaker has been an important presence in more than three decades
of Baylor's development and growth, and the value of his commitment to
this school is impossible to calculate. We wish him all the best and look forward to his contributions and insolvent as an honorary trustee."

Honorary trustees named in previous years include Scott Probasco (Class of
'46), Frank Harrison (Class of '49), and Tommy Lupton (Class of '47).

Four Baylor alumni are among the eight new trustees named to three-year
terms. Abelson, the president of Baylor's Parent Alliance, will be an
ex-officio member for two years.

-- Lee Abelson is president of the Baylor School Parent Alliance. His son, Scott, graduated from Baylor in '98, and his daughter, Blair, is a rising junior.

-- James Gifford, a member of Baylor's Class of '63, retired from Northrup Grummon Corp., where he was integral in the development of Stealth
aircraft and other military weaponry. His brother, Tommy, is a member of
Baylor's Class of '66; his niece, Debbie, is a 1998 alumna, and his
nephew, Jamey, is a 1997 alumnus.

-- Janice Card Henderson and her husband, Danny, have been active parent volunteers. Janice is associated with her father's company, Card-Monroe Corporation, a manufacturer of tufting and related machinery. Her brother, Lamar '60, her son, Card Steele '89, and her daughter, Cam '96, are all Baylor graduates.

-- Jon Kinsey, a member of Baylor's Class of '72, recently completed a
four-year term as mayor of Chattanooga and plans to return to his business interests in real estate development and management. He has two children who are Baylor graduates, Melissa '94 and Adam '98, and a daughter, Morgan, who will enter Baylor as a sixth grader.

-- Ellen P. Moore is an active parent volunteer who has served as chair of
the admissions advisory committee of the Parent Alliance. Her Baylor ties
include father, Scott Probasco '46; brothers, Scott '73 and Ben '78;
husband Chris, '68; nephews, Greg '99, Ben '00, and William '08; niece, Kaki '02, and four children, Sarah Zane '03, Timothy '04, Christopher '06, and Laura '07.

-- Jeffrey Morgan, a member of Baylor's Class of '78, owns Morgan
Construction Company. He and his wife, Melissa, have two children at
Bright School. He is a member of the Alumni Board and has been active in
soliciting for the Annual Fund.

-- Kim L. Strang and her husband, Ewing, are the parents of Brad '01 and
Leland '02. Her father, Tommy Lupton '47, is an honorary trustee. In
addition to chairing the first Celebrate Baylor auction, Kim is an active volunteer at Baylor and in the community.

-- Philip B. Whitaker, Jr., a member of Baylor's Class of '79, is an
attorney with Witt, Gaither and Whitaker. He and his wife, Cindy, are
parents of three children, including, Bailey, a rising Baylor sixth
grader. Philip has served the school in a number of ways, including in the
role of legal advisor. He is the son of long-time Baylor trustee, Phil
Whitaker '51, and his brother, Charles, is a 1984 graduate.

-- Jeffrey Willis is owner and president of American National Carpet in Chatsworth, Ga. He and his wife, Kimberly, are parents of two Baylor
students, Jeff '03 and Armond '05, and two daughters and are active parent volunteers.

Founded in 1893, Baylor School is an independent, coeducational day and
boarding school enrolling 820 students in grades 6-12.
