Aris' Lakeshore is located at 5600 Lake Resort Terrace next to the Lakeshore Condos/Apartments. This was our second visit to Aris' - both for reviews.

This time there was a little more direction inside the building. There were paper signs taped to the wall with directional arrows. Maybe just one nice sign when you enter that states "Restaurant located on Upper Level" would be good. The main doors open into an empty hallway and you must go to the
right, down the hallway and up the stairs to the restaurant.

They do not offer sweet tea and they do not offer Equal - which always
starts my evening off wrong. We ordered an appetizer of Spinach Dip with chips ($5.95), which arrived in a little over 16 minutes. The dip was OK, but cold in the middle, while the chips were stale.

With your entrée, you get your choice of soup of the day or salad with your meal. On our first review I asked if I could have the French Onion Soup instead of the soup of the day and was advised I would have to pay the difference - which was $.45, but when I looked at the bill (after we arrived home) I found they had charged me the full price for the soup - which in essence means I got cheated. I could have ordered the salad also and the price would have been the same! This time I asked again, first the server said yes, then she said "Oh, you will have to pay the full price of the
soup." This I do not understand. If there is only a $.45 difference in
the Soup of the Day and the French Onion Soup, why can you not pay the
difference and get what you like? Navy Bean has never been a favorite soup for me. Needless to say, I had to order the salad whether I wanted it or not.

For his entrée, Wayne ordered the surf and turf, which is a Lobster Tail and a 12 ounce New York Strip ($26.95). Wayne enjoyed the steak, although he brought most of it home. He did eat the Lobster, but felt it was very dry.

I ordered the Steak de Burgo ($19.50). This was cooked exactly medium rare and had a good taste, but I was a little surprised at appearance of the dish. The menu described Steak de Burgo as the House Specialty - Two pieces of Filet Mignon sautéed in Chef's original garlic and wine sauce. I never realized my plate would be floating in what resembled water. I guess I thought sautéed meant they would prepare it in the sauce and then remove the meat to the plate. Anyway, the steak tasted good.

We both ordered a Baked Potato. With your meal you have a choice of Baked Potato, Steak Fries or Rice Pilaf, and you get dinner rolls. We thought the rolls tasted good, but couldn't understand why we got them after we received our entrees, while the neighboring table received theirs along with the soups and salads.

The fixtures in the restrooms are still very dated and not as I would
imagine for the "Lakeshore" image.

I guess I am at a loss as to why people seem to flock there. There are so many restaurants in town who have far better food (to us, anyway) and fffaaarrrrrr better service. They were going to have live entertainment, but I am not sure when it was going to start as we left at 8:00 and he had finished setting up, but no entertainment was in sight. We may have been too early.

Oh well, this continues to be on our list as a restaurant where we will
review, but it will not be showing up on our "regular" nights out.

Hours for Aris' are 4:30 p.m. until 1:00 a.m. Tuesday, Wednesday, and
Thursday; and 4:30 p.m. until 3:00 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. They are closed on Sunday and Monday.
