Old Fashioned Christmas Parade To Be Held In Dayton

The 5th annual Old Fashioned Christmas Parade will be held on Saturday, Dec. 7 at 5 p.m. in downtown Dayton.

The parade celebrates the traditional spirit of Christmas and features horse-drawn carriages, buggies, wagons, strolling carolers, & riders.

In keeping with the theme, the parade consists entirely of non-motorized entrants.

The parade will proceed down Market Street and past the historic Rhea County Courthouse and will conclude with a community candlelight service of caroling and the hanging of the greens at the historic courthouse.

The Dayton Merchants are sponsoring a Chili Cook-off on the courthouse lawn, beginning at 2 p.m.

The afternoon will include children’s activities and tours of the historic courthouse.
