Jeff Foxworthy Offers Reward for Poacher/Trespasser

  • Thursday, January 8, 2004

Comedian Jeff Foxworthy is serious about his efforts to find a poacher on his property in rural west Georgia
during the holidays.

He's offering a two-thousand-dollar reward for information leading to the conviction of the man he spotted on December 28th.

He says poaching has been a problem on his two-thousand-acre property in Harris County near the Alabama line.

Foxworthy says he was hunting when he saw the man carrying a gun from his deer stand.

State Wildlife Resources Division officer Randy Hackley tells the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer that Foxworthy saw the man hiding in a
ditch.

Foxworthy's property caretaker -- Glenn Garner -- told state wildlife investigators he confronted the intruder and told the man to put down his gun. Garner says the man raised the gun to his shoulder to fire. Garner says he shot at the man and ran behind his vehicle for cover.

Wildlife officers are investigating the incident.
