Bazooka’s is located at 1203 Hixson Pike. This used to be the Darras location and according to the menu, the recipes used are all furnished by Mike Darras. The decor is still Darras - an eclectic combination of items hanging from the walls and ceiling. And they still have the same problem as Darras – no parking.

The menu is fairly small, with a mix of Italian and Greek items. There are three appetizers - Tzazeeki, Tyropita and Skordalia - priced at $2.95 and $3.95.

There are several pizzas ($7.95 to $16.95) to choose from as well as salads and Greek Gyros ($7.95). For those who prefer "regular" food, you can select a Hamburger or Cheeseburger. Of course there is a children's menu consisting of Hot Dogs, Peanut Butter and Jelly, Grilled Cheese and a child-size Pizza ($1.50 to $2.50).

Bazooka's offers four Dinner Selections - but all homemade. Your choices are Greek Spaghetti ($9.95), Bazooka's Spaghetti ($8.95), Lasagna ($9.95) and Papa's Pesto Pasta ($9.95).

Wayne decided to try the Lasagna, which is served with a house salad and garlic bread (actually we were served garlic pita which was quite enjoyable). I ordered the Greek Salad ($6.50).

Wayne thought the Lasagna was delicious and that he would order it again - but he felt the serving size was a little small for the price. It was very cheesy with several layers of meat and pasta. I also noticed that it is $1.50 more if you want to swap out the House Salad for a Greek Salad. At the restaurant where we usually do this, they only charge $.99.

I felt the Greek Salad was good, although I prefer Romaine Lettuce rather than the Iceberg. To me, Iceberg simply tastes like crispy water. Other than that, it was a good salad and I would order it again. It is a credit to Bazooka’s that they do not try to give the appearance of a huge Greek Salad by piling on far too many Bell Peppers and Onions. Peppers and Onions are good, but don’t inundate it to make a customer think they are getting a salad larger than they are – some places do that. The Greek dressing is homemade.

We opted not to have dessert, even though our server, Ashley, informed us that they were homemade. I did notice that one of my favorites, Baklava ($2.50), was on the menu.

If you like Greek and/or Italian foods, we think you would enjoy a visit to Bazooka's. It is a very small restaurant - maybe ten tables - but the people were nice and the food was worth the trip.
