Dr. Robert "Bob" Wynn, 66, of Hixson, died Friday, March 11, 2005 in a local hospital.
A retired professor of engineering from UTC, he received his doctorate from Virginia Tech. He was the owner of Wynn Marine. He also taught at Tennessee Tech, Virginia Tech and Chattanooga State; he worked in bridge design for the State of Tennessee and had been employed in structural design work at TVA. As owner of Wynn Construction, he built houses in the Middle Valley area.
He was a member of the St. Alban’s Episcopal Church where he served on the Vestry, had been a lay reader and junior warden. His supervision of the construction of the sanctuary and parish hall for St. Alban’s was recognized by naming the parish hall for him.
He was a member of The Round Table at Creek’s Bend and a volunteer at Memorial North Park Hospital. He was a former president of the Chattanooga and Hixson Bass clubs, a member of the Chattanooga Engineers club, TSPE, and a registered professional engineer.
He is survived by his wife, Amanda Ann Wynn; daughter and husband, Beth and Bill Riner, Murfreesboro, TN; son and wife, Dr. Robert and Dr. Carol Wynn, Jr., Cincinnati, OH; four grandchildren, Claire Riner, Alex Riner, R.J. Wynn and David Wynn.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church with the Rev. Hugh Jones officiating.
The family will receive friends at the church from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday and from 1-2 p.m. before the service on Wednesday.
The interment of ashes will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Alban’s Book of Remembrance.
