Barbara Mason, 73, of Ft. Oglethorpe, died Monday, October 16, 2006, at her residence.

She was a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga and North Georgia areas. Mrs. Mason was a member of the Fort Oglethorpe Church of Christ. She was former manager of Hill Brothers Shoe Store for ten years and had worked for Sears Shoe Store in Fort Oglethorpe for many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Mason,

She is survived by her sons, Tim Mason, Ft. Oglethorpe, Dr. George David Mason, LaFayette; daughters, Janet Stephens, Conyers, Ga., Donna Crow, Ringgold; sister, Alma Laing, Bastrop, La.; brother, Hershel Vaughn, Phrump, Ne.; grandchildren, John and Brooke Mason, Katie Goodwin, and Jessica Suddeth, Wendy Buice, Christy Otero, Bobby and Autumn Elkins; three great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home chapel with Minister C.G. Griffith officiating. Interment will be in National Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Chattanooga, 4355 Highway 58, Suite 101, Chattanooga, TN 37416.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Heritage Funeral Home and Crematory, Battlefield Parkway.
