The Cupboard Restaurant at 7th and Cherry has closed and “Events with Taste” is taking its place.
"Events with Taste" will host an invitation-only open house on Thursday from 5:30-8 p.m.
Michelle Huffman-Wells and Ted Wells said they decided to rename their catering business.
One of the area’s leading chefs, Michelle Huffman-Wells, said that after closing The Cupboard restaurant to concentrate on catering it was time to have a name that more accurately reflects the business.
As a business consultant all over the world for 23 years, Ted Wells has brought not only his business expertise but his taste for international flavor to the partnership as well, it was stated.
Ted runs the business side of Events with Taste and ensures clients events run smoothly, officials said.
Michelle Huffman-Wells, a Chattanooga native, has worked throughout the country, shaping her creative use of both local and international influences. Beginning in Nashville at Mere Bulle and moving on to work with Jody Faison at Faison’s, she also opened the famed “Sunset Grille.” Her travels then took her to Phoenix as executive chef at Sam’s Café, where she learned the true flavors of the American Southwest. While in Phoenix, she rubbed elbows with the likes of Eddie Matney, Robert McGrath and Allessandro Stratta. A trip to California landed her at “Something Special Events and Catering”, one of the largest caterers in the San Francisco
Bay area, as director of operations.
Her desire to cook as well as the pull of family ties drew her to return to Chattanooga five years ago whre she opened The Cupboard, a downtown restaurant which more than doubled in size in its fifth year of business, as well as Events with Taste.
Her innovative menus are hand crafted for all clients, large or small, using the freshest and finest ingredients available. Whatever the occasion Michelle will work with a client to develp a unique and pleasing menu, to create in essence, an Event with Taste, it was stated.
