James M. "Mickey" Smith, 57, died on Saturday, April 19, 2008, in an Etowah hospital.
He was of the Christian faith. He was a graduate of Birchwood High School. He was the owner of Preferred Insulation.
Mr. Smith was the son of the late Elder N. Smith and Irene Davis Smith and was also preceded in death by his brother, Gary L. Smith.
He is survived by his son, Coty Smith, of Delano; stepdaughter, Shauna Cronan Melton, of Benton; three stepgrandchildren, Alexis Cronan, Sierra Cronan and Ryan Cronan, all of Benton; one sister and spouse, Charlotte June and Bronie Lewis, of Cleveland; two brothers, Dewayne Smith and Larry Smith and spouse, Shirley Smith, all of Cleveland; companion, Donna Smith Gibson, of Delano; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Home with the Rev. James Vaughn and Rev. Ernest Sutton officiating. Interment will follow in Old McDonald Cemetery at Snow Hill with a white dove release ceremony concluding the service. Anthony Smith, Charles Morrow, Dale Hixson, W.T. Garrett, Kenneth Blankenship and Shawn Calfee will serve as pallbearers.
