Hixson High Hires Clarksville Disbrow As New Basketball Coach

  • Thursday, May 1, 2008

The Hixson High School Wildcats are hiring former UTC men's basketball graduate assistant Alex Disbrow as the school's new varsity basketball coach.

Disbrow, who is currently the head coach for Kenwood High School in Clarksville, came highly recommended by Auburn University men's nasketball head coach Jeff Lebo and John Shulman, men's basketball coach for UTC.

"Coach Disbrow brings a wealth of experience and a successful record as a head basketball coach," Hixson High School Principal Christine Couch said. "Most importantly, however, Coach Disbrow is a proven leader and his commitment to the success of his athletes is extraordinary."

Disbrow has a varied athletic career including being Assistant Basketball Coach at Dade County High School in Trenton and acting as the UTC Men's basketball graduate assistant from 2002-2004.

He received a bachelor's of arts degree in history from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in 2003 with a minor in athletic coaching.

He is also a self-proclaimed history and geography buff with a special interest in Native American geopolitics as a member of the Eastern Band of the Cherokee Nation.

Disbrow will be introduced to students at Hixson High School on Friday.
