Mary Frank Allen Weatherly, 82, retired bacteriologist and resident of Chattanooga, died on Sunday, June 29, 2008, at NHC of Chattanooga.
Born in the Middle Tennessee Community of Caney Springs in Marshall County, she was the daughter of the late Rev. N.O. Allen and Laila Houston Allen.
She was a graduate of Jones High School in Lynnville and Martin Methodist College in Pulaski, Tn.
For many years, Mrs. Weatherly was associated with the Tennessee Department of Health as a bacteriologist, working in both the Nashville and Chattanooga laboratories.
She was a member of Brainerd Church of Christ for 55 years and prior to her illness was an integral part of many church activities, including teaching in the primary department for many years.
Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Robert K. "Bob" Weatherly Sr., of Chattanooga; daughter, Malinda (Max) Woody, of Smyrna, Tn.; son, Robert K. "Bob" (Vickie) Weatherly Jr., of Brentwood, Tn.; grandchildren, Trey Weatherly, Keeley Weatherly, Katie Weatherly, Alex Woody and Mark Woody; brother, Joe (Bettye) Allen, of Donelson, Tn.; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted at noon CDT on Tuesday at Oakes & Nichols in Columbia, Tn., with Bruce Wooley officiating. Burial will be in Lynnwood Cemetery in Lynnville.
The family will visit with friends from 11 a.m. CDT to service time on Tuesday at the funeral home.
