The Stimulus Won't Fix Igou Gap Road

  • Thursday, April 2, 2009

I am sick and tired of hearing about how the stimulus package will be used for roads. Not my road.

I've spoken with Jack Benson since he came into office eight years ago. I've written to Ron Littlefield and never gotten so much as a written response. I pay my property taxes for both the county and the city. The city has spent $250,000 surveying Igou Gap Road and still all we get is patches on the patches. The west side of Igou Gap Road is a city disgrace.

Both Ron Littlefield and Jack Benson continue to pass us up and making promises they never keep. They are buying up property for the new Goodwin road project. If you can't fix the roads we have how can you justify a new road on Goodwin? Why do they continue to not fix our road?

It's always one excuse after another. Political lies to get put back into office are the order of the day. One of my elderly neighbors told me they have been promising for years to redo Igou Gap and I've yet to see anything but a survey. We have a lot of accidents and the road is substandard and heavily traveled. So whats the problem mayor and councilman?

The only reason the other side of Igou Gap got fixed is because David Brainard School was being built and the city wanted to purchase land from them too. I guess we lowly citizens on the west side of Igou get to just watch as our tax dollars are being spent elsewhere.

We are going to start attending City Council meetings every Tuesday until we on this side of Igou Gap get some relief from people mowing down our mail boxes running their cars through our yards and almost being run off the road.

This is an open letter to you Mayor Littlefield and Councilman Benson; how about doing your job and fixing our road? We are sick of paying for the riverfront and all the money going there or to VW plant. We have more than waited our turn for our road to be fixed.

You've run out of excuses so how about sending a little stimulus our way and fix our neighborhood like you said you would.
