The Walker County Chamber of Commerce has appointed Stephanie Snodgrass as president of the organization at a Chamber board of directors meeting.
Ms. Snodgrass, who served as the director of tourism and public relations from August 2007 until December 2008 and interim president from January 2009 until being named president, will begin her new position immediately.
She was selected after a search committee reviewed applications from a broad assortment of qualified candidates.
The chairman of the board, Chip Catlett, said he was pleased with the board’s selection. He said, “She has led the Chamber since January and her experience in tourism and civic involvement make her a great fit. While continuing to support local businesses, she is introducing the Chamber to a new way of conducting business by using technology to build business relationships globally. She is the right person to work with the Northwest Georgia Joint Development Authority as we welcome new opportunities in Walker County. We are very excited to have her on our team.”
Ms. Snodgrass is a graduate of Gordon Lee High School and of Kennesaw State University where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Communication with an emphasis in Media Studies and a minor in Film Studies. During her college career she completed two internships at ABC Radio Atlanta in both promotions and on-air broadcasting. She also worked as a Marketing and Public Relations Assistant at Friends of the Festival in Chattanooga, TN where she was actively involved in the Riverbend Festival, Air Show Chattanooga and the 22nd Annual Harley Owners Group National Rally.
In 2007, she joined the Chickamauga Lions Club where she currently serves on the board of directors and during the 2009-2010 year she will serve as the chairperson of the bembership committee. Annually, she is involved in the production of the Down Home Days Festival.
“I am honored to have been chosen to promote and serve Walker County,” Ms. Snodgrass said. “I greatly enjoyed my time as the Director of Tourism and Public Relations and as Interim President. I am very excited to continue my career at the Chamber as President. Walker County is home and I look forward to helping it prosper.”
As the director of tourism and public relations, she began quarterly meetings of the Walker County Tourism Council and worked as the staff liaison for the Chamber’s Reverse Raffle and Business Expo events in both 2007 and 2008. She was also responsible for the design of Chamber’s publicity pieces.
During her time as interim president, she has been involved in the planning and implementation of the 2009 Plan of Work and the future focus of the Chamber.
