Edith Perry Evans, 89, of Chattanooga, died on Saturday, June 20, 2009 in a local healthcare facility.

She was a member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church for more than 51 years, and had been a hairdresser for over 30 years in the Chattanooga area and was employed with Cinderella Beauty Shop for many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Erskin Evans; parents, George W. Perry Sr. and Jodie Perry; brothers, George W. Perry Jr. and Jack Perry; sisters, Mamie Ruth Wilson and Betty Pugh.

Survivors include her sister, Elizabeth Coole and her husband, Dennis of Chattanooga and a brother, James Perry and his wife, Shirley of Chattanooga; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 404 South Moore Road with the Rev. Lanny R. Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 10-11:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Chattanooga or to the Alzheimers Association.
