Connie Therrien and David Cordani
Connie Therrien of Dade County, has been chosen from among 27,000 CIGNA employees as the company’s Volunteer Employee of the Year. She and the organization she tirelessly supports, Dade County Animal Resource Team, will each be given $2,500 to further their outstanding community efforts.
DART provides immunizations and spay/neuter resources in Dade County and the surrounding areas for abandoned, unaltered and potentially rabid animals. Over 3,000 animals have been altered and vaccinated against rabies and other contagious diseases at little or no cost to the community's citizens or to the county itself in large part due to Connie’s leadership.
The organization often adopts out animals, including at locations in Chattanooga.
Ms.
Therrien received her award at a lunch on June 30, with CIGNA COE David Cordani.
In addition, on July 1, CIGNA began a new employee volunteer benefit that gives employees up to eight hours of paid time off for volunteer activities per year. CIGNA hopes the new policy will allow more CIGNA employees to follow Ms. Therrien’s lead.
