Carl Edward Sands, Sr., 61, of Decatur, TN, died Tuesday, December 25, 2012 at 2:50 p.m.
He was from Knoxville, but had been a resident of Decatur for the past 15 years. He was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church, Knoxville. He was a U. S. Army Veteran, SSGT.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Cornelia Sands; brother, David Sands; and sister, Carol Jean Collier.
He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Delores (Morgan) Sands of Decatur; three sons and daughters-in-law, Tommy and Cindy Sands of Athens, Carl and Candy Lynn Sands of Nashville and Brian and Jody Sands of Decatur; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Leo Anderson of Knoxville, Donald Ray and Tammy Sands of Knoxville; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Kathy and Lonnie Coppock and Dorothy and John Stabler all of Madisonville; 13 beautiful grandchildren; and many friends.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, December 29 at 2 p.m. at Faith Baptist Church, Hwy 58 in Decatur, conducted by his eldest son, Tommy Sands.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers a donation for the family can be made at the service.
