Barbara Webb
Barbara Jane Webb was born September 12, 1940, and died on June 29, 2012, surrounded by loving family.
She created an atmosphere of love in her home which drew kids from all over the neighborhood. Whether it was to mentor a kid, or provide a meal, or a word of encouragement, "Ms. Bobbie", as she was affectionately known, was loved by all. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, was baptized as a child, and was a member of Rose of Sharon Baptist Church.
She was elected Homecoming Queen of Howard High School in 1958, and married Gerald Webb I in 1963. Together, they raised three boys (David, Gerald II, and Aaron) and three stepdaughters (Sherryl Lynn, Pam, and Crystal).
Finding her career passion, she began working in healthcare as a Certified Surgical Technician for Parkridge and Erlanger hospitals for over 20 years. After retirement, she enjoyed reading, traveling, organizing family events and spending time with loved ones.
She is survived and will lovingly be remembered by her husband, Gerald Webb I; son, David (Marilyn) Webb, Gerald (Angela) Webb II, Aaron (Rashida Marie) Webb; stepdaughters, Sherryl Lynn (Jeff) Hill, Pamela Webb, Crystal Dotson; sisters, Glenda Lyons, Sheryl (Eddie) Gould; brother, Samuel Smith Sr.; grandchildren Jolanda, NeNe, Jeffrey II, Nia, Olivia, Allison, Sydney, Shelby, Summer, Ella and Gerald III; special extended family, Betty (Thomas) Little and family; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and other beloved friends including close friend, Rozzie Carter.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Betty Smith, stepfather, Samuel Smith Sr., father, J.B. Hayes, sister Flora Jean "Jeannie" Parker and brother-in-law, Charles Parker.
Visitation will be on Sunday, July 1, from 3:30-5 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be on Monday, July 2, at 1 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Charles Moore as the eulogist. Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
