World War II Veteran Retired From The IRS

Larry Phillips Bass, formerly of Chattanooga, died on Tuesday, November 19, 2013 in Nashville, Tennessee. 

Larry was born in Chattanooga to the late Hubert W. and Francis Bass.  Larry served our country during World War II in the U.S. Army.  He was a former member of Hixson Church of Christ and a member of Central Church of Christ.  Larry retired from the Internal Revenue Service.  He was currently living in Nashville. 

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Etta Bass; siblings, Hubert Bass, JB Bass, Harry Bass, Francis Morris and Motelle Neal. 

Larry is survived by his wife, Roberta Bass of Nashville; children, Greg Bass and Jeff and wife Kimberly Bass both of Charlotte, N.C., and Debbie White of Nashville; grandchildren, Chad Bass of Charlotte, Kaitlin White and Alexandria White both of Nashville; cousin, Aaron Simonis of Nashville. 

The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 21, and again on Friday, Nov. 22, from 11 a.m.-noon at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson, Tn. 37343. 

Graveside service and military honors for Larry will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 22, at the Chattanooga National Cemetery, 1200 Bailey Ave., Chattanooga, Tn. 37404, with Minister David Schonhoff officiating.

The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made in Larry’s name to Central Church of Christ, 400 Vine Street, Chattanooga, Tn. 37403. 

Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson.
