National High School Soccer Coach of the Year and Chattanooga Christian head boys soccer coach Dr. Shawn Brower has announced that he will resign as coach at the end of this season.
Brower also has decided to step down as head of the CCS Upper School at the end the current school year.
Now in his ninth season as CCS head coach, Brower led the Chargers to the D-I A-AA state title in 2011 and has a 19-year coaching record of 327-62-25, including a 4-0 win against Powell High School earlier today.
“It is bitter sweet knowing that I will not be coaching this team next year as they have exceeded my expectations for them, “ said Brower whose team is 6-1-0 this season with four shutouts.
“This is the most consistent team I have worked with in my time here at CCS and that includes the state championship team of 2011.”
Brower and his family will move to Jupiter Christian School above West Palm Beach, Fla.
for the 2013-14 school year where he will serve as the head of the Upper School and the head boys’ soccer coach.
“The coach who replaces me will inherit a great group of stellar young men and it breaks my heart to know I will not be coaching them this time next spring.”
One player who will be joining coach Brower at Jupiter Christian is his son, Josh Brower, who is a starting forward/midfielder as a freshman.
“I have coached Josh and Porter Black since they played in the Under-8 program and they work great together on the offensive end,” Brower stated.
The New England native coached at Orangewood Christian School (north of Orlando, Fla.) for 11 years with three state championships before being hired at CCS for the 2003-04 school year.
