Report Says Volkswagen Could Announce Plans For Producing SUV At Chattanooga As Early As Next Week

  • Saturday, January 11, 2014

A report says Volkswagen officials may announce plans as early as next week to build a new SUV at its factory in Chattanooga.

Reuters reported that the announcement could come at the Detroit Auto Show.

VW's plant in Puebla, Mexico, has also been under consideration for building the CrossBlue.

VW began production of the Passat sedan at a $2 billion facility at the Enterprise South Industrial Park in April 2011.

A "mirror image" of the huge plant at Tyner has been readied so production could begin on a second line.
