Witnesses said Thursday that 16-year-old Rodrick Demichael McGee made motions and sounds like a gun going off before spraying them with bullets in an incident Aug. 6.

McGee, whose case was transferred from Juvenile Court, had three charges of aggravated assault and one of reckless endangerment bound to the Grand Jury by General Sessions Court Judge David Bales.

Witnesses said 16-year-old Seth Hardnett, who was hit in the abdomen by one of the bullets, is still in serious condition. He was rushed to surgery after the shooting.

He is currently in rehab. It was testified that at one point doctors thought he had died, then he rallied.

An 18-year-old and a 19-year-old were also shot. One was hit in the leg and still carries the bullet. The third was grazed.

Janice Hurd said some of her group had prior run-ins with McGee.

She said she saw him drive by in a UHaul van around 10 a.m. that day. Then he later went by their residence at 703 E. 14th St. on a bicycle. She said he then made motions with his hands like he was shooting a gun and said, "Pop, pop, pop."

A short time later the same UHaul van came down the street slowly and a gunman began firing at the group sitting on the porch, it was stated.

Detective James Plumlee said a UHaul matching the description of the one used in the shooting incident was returned soon afterward to the UHaul place on South Broad Street. It had been rented by the mother of McGee and had numerous of his fingerprints, the detective said.

Judge Bales set a $200,000 bond on one of the aggravated assaults and $100,000 on the other two. The bond for reckless endangerment is $50,000.
