County School Bus Catches Fire; Students Get Off Safely

A Hamilton County School bus caught fire Monday morning on its morning run.

The bus driver looked in the rear view mirror and saw flames coming from the side of the bus.

She was able to get the more than 20 students safely off the bus.

The students were going to Soddy Daisy Middle and High School. A second bus was dispatched to take the students to school.

A vehicle later struck the side rear of the stopped bus.

The incident happened around 6:30 a.m.

The owner-operated school bus was 11 years old.
