The Chattanooga Christian School baseball team earned a spot in the Division II-AA state tournament by beating McCallie in two straight at home Tuesday night.
The Chargers won 2-0 in the first game and then came back after being down in game two to win 4-2. The Chargers advance to the region semifinals and will play Friday at Baylor against either Knox Webb or Knox Catholic.
In the low scoring first game of the afternoon, CCS senior Keegan Nieckula pitched all seven innings, allowed two hits and struck out five McCallie batters. CCS managed just three hits in the game but were able to score two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Nieckula, Devin Dobson and Drew Petty each had hits in game one.
McCallie pitcher Peyton McAllister struck out nine in the loss.
In game two, McCallie scored runs in the fifth and the sixth to take a 2-0 lead.
The Chargers rallied in the bottom of the 7th, scoring four runs and then holding off McCallie in the 8th to earn the win.
McCallie pounded out seven hits in game two each by Chandler Jones and Andrew Polen.
CCS also had seven hits with Will Fessler and Caleb Zurawick each having two hits.
CCS Will Fessler earned the win on the mound pitching all seven innings and striking out five.
