George William Arp, 91 of Chattanooga, died on Monday, February 10, 2014 at his residence.

He was a lifelong resident of north Georgia and the Chattanooga area. Born in Rossville, he was the son of the late Herbert H. and Mary Tuell Arp.  

George graduated from Rossville High School, class of 1941. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving in England during World War II.  

George was a faithful member and strong supporter of Lakeview First Baptist Church for 60 years.  He was a member of the Shipley Sunday School Class and served as the chairman of the Building and Grounds Committee for numerous years.  

He was the owner of Arp Electric Company for 50 years and was a member of the IBEW for 60 years and the National Electrical Contractors Association for numerous years as well.

George was preceded in death by his son, William Brian Arp; three brothers, Harold Arp, Roy Arp and Lebron Arp and one sister, Willie Mae Hall.

Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 71 years, Elaine Royce Arp; daughter, Mary Lynn (Dick) Ferrell, Chattanooga; three grandchildren, Chris Ferrell, Ashley (Brian) Williams and Devin Arp; two great-grandchildren, Mary Beth and Kathryn Williams; brother, Ray (Lila) Arp, Chattanooga; three sisters, Mickey Toler, Downers Grove, Il., Frances (Raymond) Dunn, Rossville and Margaret Hollingsworth, Rossville; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 13, in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Leroy Spinks and Reverend Patrick Cooper officiating.  Members of the Shipley Sunday School Class will serve as honorary pallbearers.  Interment will follow in Lakewood Memory Gardens, South.
