Mary Jo Brown, 75, of Cleveland, TN, passed away Thursday March 27, 2014 in a Chattanooga hospital.
Mrs. Brown of the daughter of the late Fletcher Norton and Edith Norton Fountain; and was also preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Darbin Brown; a son, Jerry Hasty; a brother, Tommy Norton; granddaughter, Rachel Marie Johnston; maternal grandparents, Jobe and Emma Higgins; and paternal grandparents Joe and Mattie Norton.
Mary was wonderful retired cook having worked in several different restaurants in the area and also at the Lee University cafeteria with several years of service. She was a member of the Pine Ridge Baptist Church in Benton.
She is survived by her daughters, Kaye Elrod and her husband Walker, Linda Johnston and Pat Lowrance all of Dalton and Dana Holmes of Cleveland; her sons, Marty Johnston and his wife Brenda and Greg Hasty all of Dalton, David Johnston and his wife Betsy of Ringgold and Benny Brown of Arkansas; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Clara Thomas and Veronica Jewel both of Dalton; her brother, Vincent Norton of Sugar Valley, GA; and several nieces and nephews.
A Remembrance of Life service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, March 31 at the Wildwood Chapel of the Jim Rush Funeral Homes with Rev. Floyd Boggess officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Barry Elrod, Shane Lowrance, Jared Fowler, Blake Miller, Terry Holmes and Cody Holmes serving as casket bearers.
The family will receive friends Monday, March 31 from 11 a.m. until service time at the Wildwood Chapel of the Jim Rush Funeral Homes, who has charge of the arrangements.
